Congratulations Christy P., for finishing in Third Place at the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Mid Atlantic Regional final and moving on to the the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games in Los Angeles, CA! We are so unbelievably proud of you—for your indomitable will and determination, and for embodying most every quality we could ask for in an MPH athlete.

And, thank you to all of our supporters—everyone who made the trip over the three-day event!

While Christy was busy offering herself to the spotlight of competition, Sean M. and Joseph P. were busy documenting her efforts on film. Thank you, Hugus and Mojoe!

Congratulations Keena S., for completing Sunday’s North Face Endurance Challenge Half Marathon!

for time:
two-mile walk* with 60/40-lbs.

*In this workout:

  • You must walk, not run.
  • You may wear a weight vest or loaded backpack, or carry sandbags, plates, dumbbells or kettlebells.

This workout is scored by both the time and burpee debt.

Again, thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on Christy this past weekend. If you were lucky enough to be there yesterday, you witnessed a truly spectacular effort. After an accident in the second workout on day one, Christy came roaring back on Saturday with two second place finishes, and she won both events yesterday in dominating fashion.

As I told you yesterday, CP, I have never been as proud of any athlete I have coached over the past 10 years as I was of you this weekend. Against the odds, you made the unimaginable effort—you won—when you had to, not just because you could. We never had any doubt. You’re the best there is.

Your effort this weekend was epic—watching you surge across the field house during wod 6 with utter determination was inspiring! You just keep getting better! I am so proud of you.

We are going to California (again)! I am so proud of you. You showed your true colors this weekend, and you demonstrated to everyone how a real competitor and athlete deals with stress and overcomes a very tough situation. You found a way and inspired us all.

See you in Cali! Or, on Tuesday for training…

  3. StuLu | June 5, 2011 at 9:48 pm

From afar, you were as inspiring as if I was right there watching you. An amazing comeback, a shout filled – tear inducing effort. And, most importantly, the drive that makes us all want to be better on your behalf. What is the most uplifting, however, is that you make us all feel, through the real human kindness you show in everyday life, that we can all be better – and that determination is not in the least bit elitist.

WIshing you the best in LaLa…

StuLu-WIsh The Caps would learn from Christy

Just plain awe inspiring CP. We’re so proud to be part of the community with you– not because of your SUPREME skills, but because of heart and friendship. Good luck in Cali!

Amen to the above. I don’t think I have ever checked a website for updates at work more often than the last 2 days waiting for the Midday and End of Day Recaps for the Regionals. Concerned after the first day, hopeful after the second and freakin ecstatic after the third. You epitomize the ideal of laying it on the line. Way to remember that you are indeed, Christy freaking Phillips! Damn proud to know and workout with you, Fuck you’re strong!!

  6. caitlin | June 5, 2011 at 10:28 pm

WOOTIE WOOT! Christy congrats that is amazing! I am so sorry to have missed it, but I was thinking of you and I religiously (ok kind-of obsessively) checked the web site over the weekend for the updates. I am so happy for you! Go get ’em in Cali girl!

I too watched from afar, and was praying for your recovery, good night’s rest and determination. I knew you had it in you, Christy. What an inspiration.

  11. jdchristopher | June 6, 2011 at 8:34 pm

I think John’s lost voice says it all… frickin’ awesomeness. I think it’s about time I had a conveniently timed work trip to California…

Also, I think I snorted a pebble during one of my burpees today.

  12. No Doubt | June 6, 2011 at 8:43 pm

Approximate OTB: 30 mins walk on beach with ~55lbs backpack and intermittent tennis ball tosses to the pups. According to Google Maps, it was ~1.5mi.
