Lisa: 17:22 (45lbs; 12lb mb). I was at Ballston, which boasts the 12lb mb as it’s heaviest. And I’m not sure I’ve done a snatch before (although I certainly have done the single arm db snatch which I probably should have substituted). I think I got the movement down (after watching a crossfit video on the web) but I couldn’t get comfortable with any weight on the bar.
This was quite a challenge for me – wall ball is tricky since I lack stereo vision – I just don’t know how far away anything is. Try doing it with one eye closed. After a fussy workout that left me cross – I went home and got out some chalk and marked 10 feet on the side of the house. then, using a partially inflated basketball the neighbor kids left in my yard, I practiced until I could hit 10 feet most of the time – not using my eyes, but with the push in my legs and snap in my hip.
Not to make this too personal, but when I was in junior high, there was a kid named Danny who would yell “hey companion, think fast” and huck a basketball at my face – sometimes i could block it or duck, sometimes not – once he broke my glasses, once he broke my nose. Those wall balls in the driveway really burned in my hip and legs – but I saw Danny’s face each and every time I hit that 10 foot mark. I may have only one good eye, but the rest of me will not be held back.
Danny’s a little punk, and if he showed his face around MPH, I bet our smallest girl could kick his a**.
20:40, snatch scaled to 85-lbs.
