OK here’s the note: I tried the 70KG…but they didn’t have a bar, they sorta had this bar that was half length (longer than a curl bar) that I tried lifting 70KG with..and it just wouldn’t work. So I guess my question is: does the length of the bar make things heavier? or make the movement more difficult? Cause it sure felt like it.
A longer bar will make the movement harder, because of the increased torque production at either end. However, what probably influenced your WOD the most was either the quality of the bar (lesser quality bars are harder to move, as the bearings spin less, or not at all), or the total weight lifted. How much did the bar weigh itself, and how much did the total structure weigh with the additional 70kg? 70kg alone is 155-lbs., the prescribed weight.
Hey Mel, is’t 70KG or 155lb include the bar as well? The bar that I was using was about 20KG, so 45lbs…maybe 155 is just too heavy for me? 50KG = 110lbs.
Neil—I thought you were using a 70 kg of weight + the bar. Anyway, 70 kg is a lot of weight. Based on your very fast time, you probably could have upped it a little bit more, maybe 55 kg?

70kg + bar = ? kg = ? lbs.
50kg (your sub) + bar = ? kg = ? lbs.
This may explain the difficulty with the weight.

Agree – Mike, you’re a warrior. Melody, I’m glad I warmed you up so effectively (all the visual reminders of what not to do). You are both inspiring.
Ted
Thanks, guys.
