Great workout. See everybody on Tuesday, I’m off to support a buddy of mine who is running the Vegas marathon. By “support,” I mean that I’ll be gambling and drinking while he’s out running 26 miles. Serves him right.
Good Morning!
In case no one saw yesterday’s end-of-day scores, Teal pulled a beautiful three-rep 235-lb. deadlift in the 7p group! Teal has only been training at MPH for three and a half months—I can’t wait to see where her deadlift will be in a year.
Melody
teal, that’s awesome! yeah for team 7pm!
Amazing job, Teal!
I know where it will be: 335-lbs. Right, Teal?
John
Aw, shucks. Thanks guys! This was a 65 lb. improvement over last time. So bring on 335, John.
Wow- that 42 really stands out up there at the top of the list. Not awesome.
Stop it, T.
You did a great job grinding this one out as prescribed for the two most technically demanding movements.
When you could have said “fuck this” and let me lower your weight for the cleans, you asked to stay at 95-lbs. When you could have said “fuck this,” taken a DNF and gone home, you stayed and finished. Enjoy this—these are the types of efforts that make you better.
If this was easy—if we accepted mediocrity and all the smoothies that come with it—we’d all be at VIDA.
John
Thanks, John and Ivy. It did feel good to finish, instead of throwing in the towel. It just took..so..damn..long.
WAY TO GO TEAL!
Tamra- You did the cleans as rx’d and the double unders (!!!). That rocks a lot.
Hello Team MPH
Last week I posted about us taking part in a charitable activity this year. Unfortunately, responses were a little tepid, and, more importantly, volunteer opportunities are quite slim this time of year (because everyone has the holiday spirit).
So, to make this easier, I thought we could do a food/clothing drive.
I’ve identified an organization for us to donate to — it’s called Bread for the City (www.breadforthecity.org) and it provides homeless and impoverished DC residents with food, clothing, medical care, legal and social sevices.
Here’s the plan: Tomorrow, I am going to bring two boxes to MPH — one labeled “food,” the other “clothes.” If you have any [healthy, i.e. not Cheetos] food or warm clothes laying around that you don’t need or want, please bring it to MPH and drop it off. I’ll also organize a cash donation for anyone who wants to just write a check. You can email me about that at michael.sachdev@gmail.com.
In about two weeks (perhaps Saturday, December 19), I’ll pick up the boxes and deliver them to the organization. Until then, I will pester you all with near-daily blog postings reminding you to take part.
If you don’t take part, that’s okay, but I do hope you make time this year to help the needy in some other way…
Happy Holidays!
Mike
This is fantastic, Mike. Thank you.
Team, Mike graciously offered to organize this effort for us, and there isn’t anyone else we would want leading the way.
Mel, B-kay and I will help any way we can.
John
exc! i have a bunch of pre-zone clothes layin around. and a bunch of pre-paleo (puh-LAY-oh) food too.
steve D
Maybe I’ll define “puy-LAY-oh” for everyone soon—after the holidays. Good stuff, Steve.
John
I Heart Bread for the City! And I have a LOT of clothes that I have shrunk out of in the last year. Thanks for spearheading this Mike.
“shrunk out of” – haha, i like it 🙂
