For what it’s worth, I just registered for this:
http://toughmudder.com/events/bear-creek/
I was happy to see that there is already a “Crossfit MPH” team for us to join. Although I would suggest we change the name to “Team Greatness”
Hi everyone!
Thanks for your support! The competition was really fun yesterday! Hopefully Primal will post details soon and there was plenty of video taken as well. The thing I was proudest of was getting a 5 lb PR on my clean and jerk for a score of 160#! I have been hitting prs left and right recently and I think its a testament to the awesome programing and strength component of mph. Lovin it!
See you soon,
Christy
PEOPLE!
I was going to post this today but Rob beat me to it!
Yes, go to this link http://toughmudder.com/events/bear-creek/ and register under team CrossFit MPH. It will be in a drop down menu that appears a few screens into the registration process. I have signed us up for a team of 11-20 members due to the huge response I got when I mentioned this event last week (it’s a little cheaper too).
I have begun investigation in Rock Creek Park for some event-specific training. I will keep you all posted.
This will be a really fun way to further solidify the community we have at our box and I am really looking forward to it!
I hear that there will be free head shavings before the race. Also, I have a friend that does temporary tattoos. I am seriously considering some pre-race MPH ink.
Keep Squattin’

ps. We will start together, and no matter how tough it is, we will finish together.
pps. I checked accommodations at Bear Creek and there are only 8 rooms left for that weekend.
pps. Yay for Christy, DC’s most primal woman!
i just signed up…
and congrats christy! 160# is HUGE!
If someone were to ask me what 3 things have had the greatest impact on the quality of my life I would say the following; 1) Marrying my wife Kim who has brought me much joy and two beautiful daughters, 2) My Crossfit Training that has me in the absolute best shape of my life, and 3) Quitting drinking. Today I celebrate 5 years of continuous sobriety! Do something good for yourself today.
I share because I care.
See you at gym!
Dave O.
That is awesome Dave, thanks for sharing.
Yes, Dave! Congratulations, that is terrific.

Congrats Dave! That is a huge accomplishment. So proud and happy for you.
Thanks for the great post, Dave. I can’t think of three better things worth celebrating.
Dave,
An incredible achievement indeed! And a potential HOF post.
John S.
Congratulations, Dave. There is no shortage of good, good things for you this year—no better, more deserving man to achieve them.
John

Congrats to Christy who is amazing.
Thanks to Steve for taking us to amazing (read: muddy) new places.
All honor to Dave O. who is an example for all of us.
Most of all, thanks to our coaches who are strong for us when we are not.
Thanks 7am for seeing me through my pull-ups this morning…especially you Caitlin. I’ve never had a personal cheerleader before. I should take you everwhere 🙂
Ravi
Thanks Ravi. I’ve still got my pom poms around somewhere from when I was little. 🙂 Always happy to bust those out for fellow MPH-ers (although I think I’ll leave them at home so John doesn’t “light himself on fire”). You did a fantastic job. Encouragement was easy to give as you were working so hard!
it’s ok caitlin, you should bring the pom poms … i’m pretty sure i heard john doing a cheerleading cheer this morning, so maybe he’ll actually want to borrow them, rather than lighting himself on fire 🙂 (now if i could only remember what the cheer was, that would be a much better story – i think it involved spelling)
Erez,
Great job this afternoon. It’s one thing to accept a challenge to throwdown against Dave R. and Mel; it’s another thing to do it after today’s regularly-scheduled workout, and yet another thing to have it be the same workout you’ll do with the rest of the group tomorrow at 6a.
Actually, you’re still in the gym at the moment, but I don’t think you can see or hear anything right now—hence the note.
You’ll also get the rare, prior-day “compare to” tomorrow morning. I think you can beat 24:24.
Impressive work.
John
Thanks for letting me stick around. Mel and Dave, you guys rrock with two r’s.
(The other) Dave, big congrats!
I have to echo Jeremy’s thank you to Coaches. The past couple of weeks have shown just how lucky we are, how amazing they are, and what a special thing it is to be part of MPH. I was lucky enough to be at the box twice yesterday, and the second time I witnessed John and Mel give the same instruction (John nearly word for word, which is darn impressive) with the same levels of enthusiasm, care, and concern at the 6 p.m. as they gave at th 7 a.m. I got a chance to reflect on what an incredibly different environment we are in where EVERY DAY our coaches give us personalized instruction and solid foundations. The proof is in the pudding. Go to the compare to page- even if you weren’t a member yet in October- and see the difference.
Now I have to go sign up for the tough mudder.
and… I am now registered for the tough mudder!
Wow. Meg just snatched 138 pounds. Incredible job, GLX.
John
Thanks everyone for your kind words. You all inspire me everyday!
Nice job, Meg! You too, Erez!
See, this is what I am talking about…pure inspiration! Awesome!
Dave O.
It was a pleasure to watch Meg’s snatch. [Cue to MC, “that’s what he said.”]
