    Beef Update!

    For those who were interested before (or might be this time around) in getting some locally farmed grass fed beef, I just got an email from Mary (who drove the beef up here last time). Here is what she said:

    Option 1 [NEW]
    1/8 Cow (smaller quantity)

    * Priced at $3.60 / lb hanging weight*
    * Manageable take home weight of 35-50 lbs
    * 1 – 2 cu. ft. freezer space
    * Deposit with order – $25
    * Expect to receive – 3 roasts, steaks (ribeye, fillet mignon, sirloin, top round), 15 lbs lean hamburger

    Option 2
    Mixed Quarter – 1/4 Cow, Recommended variety

    I am more than likely going to get another 1/4 as Jen and I have mostly gone though ours. Let me know if you are interested.

    I am in for an 1/8. Or maybe splitting an 1/8 depending on how interested others would be in splitting it.

    Is it too late to get in on an 1/8? It looks like we are into a second cow.

      Looking at the times I’m starting to think the distance from the pillar to the beginning of the rail was not the same as the front door to the fire hydrant.
      Then again maybe it was running along the Mississippi river with Louis Armstrong playing in the background that made me faster? …

    I would be down for an 1/8th, or a share of an 1/8th.

    Also, love the slogan on Christine’s t-shirt. One of the few “dirty” t-shirts that my wife might let me wear in public. Yes, my wife has veto power over what I wear outside the house, at least when we are together.

      It almost doesn’t matter what you post on here—that the potential rejoinders are abundant. I’m just happy to see something, anything. Your name, even.

      You had me at Droz, Droz. You had me at Droz.

      Welcome back.

        I am starting to feel like the prodigal son (complete with fatted calf discussion – thanks Sean), but stuck in Groundhog Day – a return from oblivion and a welcoming comment from John, a run of two to three weeks, then one to three weeks off, and then repeat. Not good for my physical or mental well-being. Anyway, happy to be back and looking forward to no travel for a while.

        P.S. I appreciate you letting the softball I threw out there fall harmlessly.

    Here’s to wishing I had a higher belly-button today…Saw this in the news today and just had to share. Thought it was interesting how they describe locomotion as the act of falling forward, and the importance of having a higher center of gravity allowing one to fall forward at a faster rate.

    All

    thanks for the response on the beef. I cut a check today for the deposit on 2 whole cows. Right now, everyone who has responded to this post is covered. If you are still interested, you are in luck. They still have 7/8ths left, just let me know and I will reserve it for you.

    I will have details on delivery and how to pay in the next couple of days. Last time we were able to convince them to deliver the beef in front of MPH on a Saturday.
