Yeah Christy! Show ’em how you WOD.
I learned something in the box today. When I turned up I was in an extremely negative place, disastrous day at work combined with a higher than usual level of pre-WOD anxiety. Thought I could pull it together and get my head in the game before we started, but John was counting down and I was still thinking about how there was no freaking way I was going to finish this. My first 21 thrusters were ridiculously slow. Then, in the second set, Sid shouts from behind me “get out of your head!” Apparently it was obvious to all (myself included) that I was totally unfocused and absolutely drowning in negative thoughts.
At which point it occurred to me: all you have to do is commit to the freaking WOD. Commit to starting strong. Commit to finishing. Commit to thinking about nothing else for the duration of the hour.
Neil, Sid, you are my heroes. Thank you so much for seeing me through today. I’m a proud woman, but I’ll admit that I needed a little hand holding for this one, and once again this amazing family that John, Mel, and BK have built came through for me in the most incredible way.
Commit to the WOD.
Love,
Smitty
P.S. Christy, you are a legend. Kill it!
P.P.S. StuLu, so long, but not goodbye.
Smitty, anytime you need someone to cheer you on I’ll be there. As anyone who has met me knows, I’m not a very vocal person, but I really enjoy cheering other MPHers on. Yesterdays WOD is one that can easily mess with your head, and everyone needs a little encouragement now and then to just focus on the WOD rather than whatever issues you come into it with. You did great and I really enjoyed being there cheer you on and see you improve!
Sid
Christy,
Big Stadium, Big Crowd, Big Media. A lot of stuff going on around you. But, the bumpers are the same, the rings no different, the bars exactly alike, and the kettlebells the exact same size as your little box on Church St. Finish on your feet and send the world a message like only you can.
StuLu
Hey All,
Does anyone know when the WOD’s for the games will be posted? Been all over the Games Site and can’t find anything.
StuLu
they are posting wods only an hour before each is supposed to start. so for tonight’s wod that starts at 8pm, they are posting the details at 7pm.
They’re also live-streaming the Games, which should be fun.
Christy, good luck!
Give it all you’ve got Christy!
Thanks to all the coaches today- BK, John, and Surprise Guest Coach Andrew! What a fabulous way to end the week. Intensity. We has it!

good thing i don’t have anything productive i need to get done this weekend… i am already sucked into the live feed of the games.
i just saw someone in the affiliate competition wearing my awesome hot pink olympic lifting shoes!! 🙂
Is there any sound on the live feed, or just video?
nice job on the wod today 😉
Apparently so, but fades in and out.
