All,
For those running the marathon next month, for those contemplating, and for those who aspire to do it “down the road,” watch this video when you get a moment. I cried. Manly StuLu tears.
StuLu: Sensitive is the new Strong.

That’s some good stuff. What I got out of it is that you can do it on your own, but it’s so much easier with that support system. He had his brother and father in the races with him and I’ll assume along his journey. That’s what MPH has become for me so far…and without them (the community and coaches)and the support, it would be much harder.
Big point for me: no matter where you start, you can get better. We improve incrementally, but we do improve.

Have a great day!

Coach, thanks for calling me out today. My statement that “after two months of paleo, I had to break sometime” doesn’t sit right with me, and I regret saying it. Commitment is an all-the-time thing.
Hopefully within a day or two of good eatin’, and tons of water, I can bring to an end my latest ride on the sugar train.
I think I may have used an entire roll of tape that day 🙂
score for today: ~10:30 (45lbs)
i forgot to take a stop watch with me, so was using the clock on the bottom of the news on the TV for my time…
had some major gold’s gym flashbacks today as I was working out in the gold’s gym – tewksbury, MA, which is painted the EXACT same colors as the 20th street golds, but has john’s favorite additions of the “women’s only” area and unlimited use of tanning beds 🙂 oh and some guy who was trying to chat me up while alternating between shoulder raises and the calf machine. seriously?
almost forgot… I read Robb Wolf’s new “Paleo Solution” book over the weekend – I highly recommend it. It includes just enough science to explain the “whys” behind Paleo without being overwhelming or boring (I should caveat that with the info that I have a science background so I am dorkily interested in that stuff, but I really do think it’s good for everyone to know!). It also has some good recommendations re: how to actually implement Paleo-eating.
My favorite quote (which I think I saw in there a few times):
“Paleo works, but only if you do it.”
(if only i knew how to make John’s MPH-god italics, the “do” would be italicized, but alas, i don’t)
Seriously, I’m considering handing out copies to everyone I know that thinks I eat like a crazy person…
My copy should be arriving soon!
