    Hugus,

I had the following exchange with Tink last night—thought you should know:

Neil: Why is Sean wearing that tight blue shirt in his profile picture?
Me: Because I called him “Bob Sanders” and that’s the guy’s jersey—its Jenny’s. That’s why it’s so small.
Neil: Isn’t that the guy from Kentucky Fried Chicken?
    Me: That’s Colonel Sanders…

In fairness, the Colonel is a pretty big guy, and could have played football back in the day.

Runners, Congratulations! The moment you’ve worked relentlessly hard for is here. I’m so proud of you–few and proud is correct! Best wishes and see you at the finish.

Good luck to all our marathoners and thanks, T, for all the spectator preparation. From Sectionals to Fight Gone Bad to the Marine Corps Marathon our athletes have made me proud of this community. Of topic, does this mean we can call Sean “Demond” or “The Hitman” or “The Eraser” as well? Or do those names apply to Jen since it’s her shirt? Further off topic, looking at that shirt made me realize that the Baltimore Colts, who left a void in my soul that no other team can completely fill (the Chargers come close), have been out of my life for exactly as long as they were in my life.

    MARATHONERS, good luck!

I would be there to support and yell, but Your Nation’s Tuba Player has to work all day Sunday. Now kick some ass.

On the topic of the weekend’s events, Ted had a link to some road closures for a variety of things going on. Closest to MPH tomorrow is going to be Howard U’s Homecoming parade, so it might be hard to get to MPH from points East. Plan ahead!

    Howard University Homecoming Parade

This event is scheduled for Saturday, October 30, 2010. The following streets will be closed beginning at 10:00 am and should reopen by 1:00 pm:

(all street closures originate, are in relation to Howard University campus)

    • North on 6th Street to Fairmont Street, NW

    • West on Fairmont Street to Georgia Avenue, NW

    • South on Georgia Avenue to Florida Avenue, NW

    • Southeast on Florida Avenue to 5th Street, NW

    • North on 5th Street to T Street, NW

    • East on T Street to Anna Cooper Circle, NW

    • Southeast around the circle to 3rd Street, NW

    • North on 3rd Street to Elm Street, NW

    • East on Elm Street to 2nd Street, NW

    • North on 2nd Street to Bryant Street, NW

    • West on Bryant Street to 4th Street, NW

    • North on 4th Street to the Valley (where parade will disband)
