MPH will be closed from Friday, December 24 through Saturday, January 1.
- This will be an important, prescribed rest for all of us, athletes and coaches, as there is no “off season” in our sport. Rest and recovery are essential to maintaining the mental and physical intensity required for long-term success. There will be no posted workouts during this time, and instead, a programmed break from all CrossFit activities.
- We will resume a normal workout schedule on Monday, January 3, 2011.
Ours is an active rest these next few days as we prepare for a strong 2011—new classes, programs and seminars, competitions, races, community events and the good work of chasing human potential. We are incredibly excited to continue toward your health and fitness goals in the coming year.
Yours is real rest. As we say: play a sport, hike, ride your bike and walk to work—nothing that resembles a workout. Turn off your watch, metronome and anything that counts or beeps—nothing that reminds you of the clock. Keep your hands clean of chalk and tears, and treat them repeatedly. Stretch, massage and roll. Sleep in. Leave work early. Eat well. Really well.
Over the holidays especially, we believe it is important for those who can to give to members of the community who may not be as fortunate. Our annual food and clothing drive for Bread for the City, organized by Mike and Caitlin S., was a great success—thank you, both. Continuing our annual tradition, and in lieu of tangible gifts for our athletes, we have also made a donation on your behalf to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. If you are unfamiliar with this organization, “the mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys each year, and distribute those toys as gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.”
Thank you for all of your hard work and continued support this year. In the constant chase to define and exceed our capabilities, we hazard comfort and neutrality, in the hopes of finding a better time, a greater experience. With its celebrations and challenges nearly equal, this year leaves us embracing the opportunity to transform sameness, and appreciating more than ever our province among each other.
It is truly our pleasure to work with such a fine group of people. Rest, remember and look forward to the coming year.
