    RIP
    Jack LaLanne, who said:
“Your body is your slave; it works for you.”
“Better to break down than to rust out.”
and “If man made it, don’t eat it.”
He also did 1000 pushups and 1000 chinups in 1 hour 22 minutes.

He was 45 when he did that 1,000 pull-up/1,000 push-up WOD in 1959. At age 14 (1928) he gave up white flour, sugar and processed foods, and built a home gym in his backyard of climbing ropes and weights. RIP indeed, and thanks for the article, Steve.

I don’t know that I could really appreciate what he did if it wasn’t for my experience at MPH.

    Happy Birthday, Ivy!

What a loss. Growing up, my dad used to talk about Jack LaLanne like he was some sort of mythical creature. In particular, he used to tell me that Jack was so insightful that when our society collapses, historians will note that the downfall began with the advent of processed food.

In honor of Jack, I propose the following WOD:

    “LaLanne”

    AMREP* — 1 hour
    Pullup (any variety)
    Pushup
*reps must occur in equal segments throughout the WOD

If John and Mel will sanction this, will anyone join me?

I’m in, Mike. I might also try things on my own like building up to 1,000 pushups/ 1,000 pull-ups in a fortnight, let alone 86 minuts.

    Crossfit Legionnaire’s Disease:

    Front squat
    5-5-5-5-5

    95-95-95-95-95

Taking it somewhat easy while I try to recover from this respiratory distress.

Actually, these were all 99 pounds, which is the closest I could get to 95 with the kg plates.
