For our smallest women—those challenged not in spirit or strength, but in altitude—their own t-shirt:
A nod to both The Smurfs and the Kill Bills (Volumes 1 and 2), this shirt is for the short—that elite group of MPH women who transcend box height, pull-up bar placement, wall ball targets, jump rope length, shoe sizes and the surly bonds of physics to turn out elite fitness. To those for whom size cannot matter, we honor you.
If you are less than the five feet, four inch tall average, let us know (these t-shirts only come in size small, obviously). The list so far:
- Kris C.: “Silent Smurf”
- Melody: “Coach Smurf”
- Alissa G.: “Smurfette”
- Christy P.: “Super Smurf”
- Keena S.: “Social Smurf”
- Leota T.: “Fancy Smurf”

Thanks Coaches! The shirts are awesome!
Also, while I enjoyed my short stint as “Axl” I’m pretty excited about the new nickname… No matter what you say, I still refuse to be embarrassed about loving that song, maybe it’s my Route 1 roots…
“You know, I mighta been born just plain white trash but Fancy was my name”
– Fancy
That is awesome. I love it.
Thank you, coaches! I should send this to my D1 lax coach who cut me for being too small. And, because it had to happen:

I’m glad I miss the cutoff by an entire inch.
T-shirt: $10. Being Papa Smurf: priceless.
This is outstanding.
What a great shirt, MPH! Are 5′ 2″ alumni eligible to buy?
🙂

Thank you so much, coaches! I fully embrace my vertically challenged status, especially if it means I can kick people in the shins. Just no one from the gym, of course.
I think at least three of the women in the 8 a.m. are also qualifying members. That being said, when’s the Gargamel (read “giant”) shirt coming out? LOL just kidding.
I advocate that the male version of this shirt be oompa-loompas

I do believe I qualify as a smurf (just barely at least, I’m a very tall 5′ 3 3/4″). I have been known by some as Norwegian Smurf, Bearfight Smurf, Lil’ Napolean Smurf and, after this morning’s workout in which, as I was encouraging Holmes through her round of presses, I said “There you go. Boom!”, Boom Smurf. All possible suggestions, but also open to any other new identities.
perhaps I should be awarded a shirt for my smurf-like pressing ability.

Who gets punished in that situation? You, by receiving the shirt? Or us, by seeing you in a black baby-T with smurfette on the back?
Work it Dave. Work it! 🙂
Shorty-licious!
