We (try to) take eight or nine hours of sleep per night, because we need it after the day’s training, coaching and living, and before tomorrow’s craziness. We eat good, clean food and often take fish oil—a protein shake for good measure.
What do you take and why?
Rest today.
I make certain I get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. I sleep 8-9 on weekends. I take 2 fish oil pills after every major meal each day. I do this mostly for my joints, but there are other great benefits like being more alert and having nice skin. I drink a protein shake within 30 minutes of my workouts. I maintain a 95% Paleo diet and I eat something every three hours with my last meal at least 2-3 before bed. The most important thing I do is drink plenty of water throughout the day. No sodas, milk or juices. Just plain ole water…oh and 2-3 cups of coffee (my only vice).

I am impressed that our coaches get 8-9 hrs of rest a night. I tend toward the 7.5 with a bit longer on the weekends. I try to remember to take some extra folic acid and vitamin D. I used to be more on the fish oil, but I’m inconsistent on any supplements. I used to be really devoted to protein shakes, but not so much any more.
Also, for those who are interested in tracking their food and being part of a group of supportive MPH members, you can email me about the Paleo Eaters Anonymous blog. It’s a group (fluctuating in numbers) of us who daily post our food journals- good, bad, and ugly, for better compliance, and now after almost three years, also friendship and to keep up with each other’s lives.
