Personal training
at CrossFit MPH involves working one-on-one with one of our coaches to help you achieve your fitness goals. CrossFit itself is a high-intensity, varied workout program that incorporates elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and metabolic conditioning. With personal training in our CrossFit setting, the approach is individualized to suit your needs, whether you're looking to improve strength, increase endurance, lose weight, or learn specific CrossFit movements and techniques.

Initial Assessment & Goal Setting
When you first start, your coach will assess your fitness level. They’ll ask about your past exercise experience and what goals you want to achieve.
Together, you’ll set short-term and long-term fitness goals, whether it’s mastering a specific lift (like the clean and jerk) or improving cardiovascular endurance.
Tailored Workouts
Based on your goals and fitness level, your coach will design personalized workouts. These might include a combination of the following:
- Strength training (e.g., deadlifts, squats, snatches)
- Conditioning (e.g., rowing, running, jumping rope)
- Gymnastics movements (e.g., pull-ups, handstand pushups, ring dips)
- MetCons (Metabolic Conditioning), which are intense circuits designed to increase cardiovascular endurance and stamina.
Your coach will ensure the movements are scaled appropriately for your ability, so you don’t feel overwhelmed and can progress safely.

Movement Instruction & Technique
CrossFit emphasizes proper technique to avoid injury and get the most out of each movement. Your personal trainer will coach you through proper form for lifts and exercises.
This could include breaking down complex movements like the snatch or muscle-up into smaller components to build skill and confidence.
Progress Tracking & Feedback
Your coach will track your progress over time, making note of improvements in strength, speed, endurance, and technique.
You’ll receive individual coaching, whether it’s adjusting your grip on a lift or modifying your breathing during high-intensity movements.

Motivation & Accountability
Your personal trainer is there to push you, motivate you, and keep you accountable. Having your coach’s attention ensures you’re giving your best effort and helps you stay consistent with your workouts.
We’ll celebrate your milestones, no matter how big or small, to keep you motivated.
Injury Prevention & Recovery
We will also emphasize mobility and recovery exercises to help you stay injury-free. We will incorporate stretching, foam rolling, or other recovery techniques to help you stay flexible and avoid overuse injuries.

CrossFit Community
While personal training is one-on-one, you’ll also be part of the larger CrossFit MPH community. Our CrossFit gym emphasizes camaraderie and support. If you’d like, we can help you join group WODs (Workouts of the Day) or other workout or gym social events!
